The Council of Barbadian Organizations Inc. (CBONY) was founded in 1983. It remained dormant from 1986 until its reestablishment on February 6, 1993. CBONY is a cohesive body of diverse Barbadian organizations whose membership advances the nursing profession, responds to several humanitarian requests, preserves Barbados’ heritage, engages in cultural, social and sports programs, and readily contributes to educational goals and alumni obligations. CBONY currently comprises sixteen organizations including, life member Sons and Daughters of Barbados, West Indian Benevolent Society of America Inc., an 88-year-old organization and the first one to be known in New York. CBONY is a member of the National Organization of Barbadian Organizations (NABO). |
