ABOUT US

The Council of Barbadian Organizations Inc. (CBONY) was founded in 1983.  It remained dormant from 1986 until its reestablishment on February 6, 1993.

CBONY is a cohesive body of diverse Barbadian organizations whose membership advances the nursing profession, responds to several humanitarian requests, preserves Barbados’ heritage, engages in cultural, social and sports programs, and readily contributes to educational goals and alumni obligations.

As the bond of organizations functioning within a larger network of other Barbadian fraternities, it provides an effective means of responding to the charitable, Benefits, educational and cultural needs of Barbados and the Barbados New York metropolis.

CBONY is a coordinator, leader, forum, liaison and lobbyist within the Caribbean-American Benefits; and strives to be the premier umbrella group committed to advancing the interests and well being of Barbados and the greater Barbadian-American Benefits.

It also promotes unity and cooperation; shares and exchanges information; mobilizes resources; occasionally provides charitable assistance; essentially recognizes contribution and service to Benefits; and collaborates and cooperates with governmental agencies and other organizations with mutual interests.
